GEORGE TOWN, August 2 — Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has urged DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke to remain as Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman despite his defeat in the Chennah state seat.
Chow said there was no immediate need for Loke to resign, adding that he should take time to regroup and continue strengthening the party.
Chow described Chennah as one of the toughest seats following the BN-PN electoral cooperation, which consolidated opposition support.
He also said the campaign became heavily influenced by racial and religious issues, making the contest more challenging. Loke lost the seat to MCA’s Siow Kong Choon.
