KUALA LUMPUR, August 3 — DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has announced his resignation as Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman after 22 years.
Taking responsibility for the party’s failure to retain the Chennah and Repahstate seats in the recent Negeri Sembilan election.
Loke said the time had come to hand over the state leadership to a new generation, describing the decision as a personal one made without pressure.
Despite stepping down at the state level, the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) unanimously endorsed Loke to continue serving as the party’s secretary-general.
And lead DAP into the 16th General Election (GE16). The CEC also resolved to table a motion at the party’s National Congress on Aug 16.
Where delegates will decide whether DAP should remain in the Federal Government for the remainder of the current parliamentary term.
