ALOR GAJAH, August 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said government allocations for parliamentary constituencies belong to the people, not exclusively to their elected MPs.
He said funding should be used for community needs such as schools, religious schools, mosques and drainage repairs. Responding to claims that opposition MPs were denied constituency allocations.
Anwar said the government could channel funds directly to residents and local projects where an MP sits in the opposition. He stressed that the policy was not new.
And had long been understood by lawmakers who previously served in government.
