PUTRAJAYA, August 12 — The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) has launched the National Energy Efficiency Policy and Action Plan 2026–2035 (NEEAP 2.0).
To accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards net-zero emissions by 2050. The plan targets an 11.6% improvement in electricity and thermal energy efficiency.
Equivalent to cumulative energy savings of about 815,000 terajoules. PETRA estimates NEEAP 2.0 could generate RM85 billion in net energy savings.
Attract RM36 billion in private investment and create approximately 29,000 jobs. The initiative is also projected to reduce carbon emissions by 26 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent by 2035.
