MELAKA, August 16 — Former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun said Sunday he is prepared to step down as the state PKR chief after the party’s poor performance in the Aug 1 state election.
Aminuddin said he accepted responsibility and would leave the final decision on his position to PKR’s leadership. He also lost Linggi by 2,976 votes, while PKR retained only two state seats.
However, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said Aminuddin’s experience remained valuable, particularly in mentoring younger party leaders. Anwar praised Aminuddin for accepting the defeat without blaming others.
Aminuddin said losing should not end the party’s struggle, but instead become the starting point for rebuilding PKR in Negeri Sembilan.
