PUTRAJAYA, August 16 — DAP will remain in Malaysia’s federal government until the end of the current parliamentary term after delegates overwhelmingly rejected leaving the administration on Sunday.
Official results showed 1,857 delegates, or 88% of valid votes, supported staying in government, while 242 voted to leave. A total of 2,223 delegates attended the party conference.
Organisers said 2,106 ballot papers were issued and received, with 2,099 votes declared valid. The secret ballot settles an internal debate over DAP’s immediate future in the federal administration.
The party said the decision allows it to continue pursuing its political and reform agenda from within the government for the remainder of the parliamentary term.
