GEORGE TOWN, August 26 — The Penang Bridge International Marathon is strengthening ties with Southern Thailand to encourage greater cross-border movement of runners and sports tourists.
PBIM organising chairman Wong Hon Wai and his team visited Songkhla Marathon 2026, which attracted 9,000 runners, including more than 2,500 Malaysians and about 500 from Penang.
More than 600 Thai runners participated in PBIM 2025, with another strong turnout expected this year. Wong said closer cooperation between regional races.
Could support tourism and economic activity on both sides of the border. PBIM 2026 is scheduled for Dec 13 and is expected to attract about 25,000 runners.
