KUALA LUMPUR, August 26 — Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has backed a Public Accounts Committee investigation into Tabung Haji’s financial management from 2017 to the present.
Zahid said the PAC could establish a special body to examine allegations of mismanagement or misuse of funds based on evidence.
He said the parliamentary committee was better suited to conduct a follow-up investigation than establishing another Royal Commission of Inquiry.
Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan also supported further scrutiny, saying either a new RCI or PAC investigation could examine developments beyond the period already reviewed.
Zahid said the investigation should establish facts and address public perceptions surrounding Tabung Haji’s governance.
