KUALA LUMPUR, September 3 — Malaysia’s expanding AI and data centre industry will require smarter maintenance to keep increasingly complex facilities reliable, Schneider Electric Malaysia said.
Head of Services Ea Jia Gen said traditional scheduled or reactive maintenance may be insufficient as AI workloads increase power and cooling demands.
The company advocates condition-based maintenance, using connected equipment data and AI to identify warning signs before failures occur.
Schneider Electric said such systems support technicians rather than replace them, helping teams prioritise critical equipment, reduce unnecessary maintenance and improve energy efficiency.
The company said predictive maintenance should form part of a broader strategy covering design, digitalisation and asset lifecycle management.
