GEORGE TOWN, September 3 — Police arrested two people after a newborn boy was found alive inside a sanitary bin at an accessible toilet at Penang International Airport.
Southwest district police chief Anuwal Ab Wahab said a cleaner discovered the baby on Aug 31 after hearing cries from the bin.
CCTV checks led police to arrest a 23-year-old Malaysian woman at Kompleks Bukit Jambul. A 22-year-old Myanmar man, who works as a security guard, was later detained.
Police said the man could not produce valid travel documents. Forensic officers collected samples for analysis. The baby was taken to Penang Hospital for treatment. Investigations continue under Section 317 of the Penal Code.
