KUALA LUMPUR, September 5 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said an early 16th general election can be considered, but stressed that the government remains focused.

His remarks followed Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s suggestion that GE16 be held before Parliament completes its term.
Separately, Anwar instructed the Finance Ministry and Rural and Regional Development Ministry to resolve disagreements over rural project allocations and delayed payments to contractors amicably.
