KUALA LUMPUR, September 5 — Barisan Nasional remains committed to the unity government despite calls within the coalition for an earlier general election, secretary-general Zambry Abd Kadir said.
Zambry said supporting an early GE16 should not be interpreted as confidence that BN would automatically regain federal power. He said BN had no intention of undermining or bringing down the government.
Before an election is called. His remarks followed BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s support for an earlier election to seek a fresh mandate. The current Parliament is expected to complete its full term in December 2027.
