GEORGE TOWN, September 5 — Four shop units near Chew Jetty were damaged in an early-morning fire on Saturday, the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said.
Firefighters received an emergency call at 1.08am and arrived three minutes later. The blaze involved four Class B shop units, each measuring about 60 by 60 feet, with an estimated 70% damage.
A total of 15 firefighters from Lebuh Pantai and Jalan Perak stations responded, assisted by the Sri Tanjung Volunteer Fire Brigade. The fire was brought under control at 1.42am.
No casualties were reported, while firefighting operations were continuing at the time of the preliminary report.
