KOTA BHARU, September 6 — PAS is looking to closer cooperation with Umno and Barisan Nasional as part of its strategy to capture Putrajaya and expand its control of state governments.
Deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said PAS believed cooperation with strategic partners, including Umno and BN, could benefit all sides in pursuing federal power.
President Abdul Hadi Awang said stronger ties with Umno could also help PAS win more states.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said BN-Perikatan Nasional cooperation remained intact, with negotiations continuing ahead of the Melaka election.
Meanwhile, election director Sanusi Nor said PAS would defend its existing seats and would no longer surrender constituencies it considered winnable to political partners.
