GEORGE TOWN, September 9 — Gerakan national treasurer and Penang secretary Hng Chee Wey has resigned from the party after 31 years, citing differences in political views.

Penang Gerakan chairman Oh Tong Keong confirmed receiving Hng’s resignation and party withdrawal letter, saying he was surprised by the decision and would seek clarification.

In a farewell message, Hng thanked party colleagues for their support and said political differences could lead people down separate paths without ending friendships.

He did not elaborate on the disagreements or announce his next move. Speculation that Hng may join another political party remains unconfirmed.
