KUALA LUMPUR, September 12 — Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called for the 16th General Election to be held as soon as possible, saying Barisan Nasional was ready to seek a fresh mandate to lead the country.

Speaking at the Umno General Assembly, Zahid described GE16 as a defining moment for the coalition after recent electoral gains in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

He also unveiled BN’s proposed “Malaysia Blue Agenda,” an eight-part roadmap covering wealth creation, human capital, public welfare, crisis preparedness and institutional trust.

Zahid pledged that courts, enforcement agencies and other state institutions would not be used as political tools if BN returned to federal power.

He also criticised uncertainty surrounding fuel subsidies and taxation, saying Umno would pursue clearer policies while avoiding unrealistic election promises.
