KUALA LUMPUR, September 14 — Singapore-born singer-songwriter and violinist JOYY has released “REWRITE,” a seven-track EP bringing together years of songwriting, classical music and cinematic storytelling.
The project explores themes of happiness, pain, memory, belonging and personal transformation through J-rock, alternative pop, Mandarin pop and cinematic influences.
JOYY’s violin plays a central storytelling role throughout the record rather than serving simply as accompaniment.
Lead single “Unspoken” explores living with emotional pain without forcing a resolution, while “Far From Home,” featuring Sherman Zhuo, examines the meaning of home through two perspectives.
