KUALA LUMPUR, September 16 — The Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia has backed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s call for greater creative freedom.
While strengthening audience safeguards. CMCF said clearer standards could give filmmakers and investors more confidence to explore challenging ideas responsibly.
It called for stronger self-regulation, clearer classifications, accessible parental controls and greater accountability across the industry. The forum also welcomed moves by FINAS and the Film Censorship Board.
Towards greater reliance on age classifications where appropriate, allowing filmmakers more space to preserve their work while helping audiences make informed viewing choices.
