BANGKOK, September 17 — Malaysia and Thailand have strengthened energy cooperation with new agreements covering Block A-18-01 in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the Production Sharing Contract and Gas Sales Agreement would support continued development, investment and energy security.
Natural gas is projected to account for 56% of Malaysia’s primary energy supply by 2050.
Akmal said the agreements could also pave the way for new contracts covering Block B-17-01 as both countries seek to further develop the joint area’s energy resources.
