KUALA LUMPUR, September 18 — Asia-Pacific airlines will require 19,120 new passenger aircraft over the next two decades as the region drives global aviation growth, Airbus said Monday.
Its latest Global Market Forecast projects regional passenger traffic will grow 5.1% annually, above the 3.9% global average. Asia-Pacific is expected to account for 45% of worldwide demand.
For 42,060 new aircraft through 2045. The regional requirement includes 15,700 single-aisle and 3,420 widebody aircraft, with about one-third replacing existing planes.
And the remainder supporting growth. Airbus expects rising incomes, urbanisation and expanding regional connectivity to support demand.
