KUALA LUMPUR, September 19 — DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke announced his resignation as Transport Minister on Saturday.
Following the conditional pardon allowing former prime minister Najib Razak to serve his remaining sentence under house arrest.
Loke announced the move after a three-hour DAP Central Executive Committee meeting.
He said the decision involves only him, while other DAP ministers will remain in government to preserve political stability.
Loke said DAP respects the King’s constitutional pardoning power but finds the development difficult to accept given the impact of the 1MDB scandal.
He said he would submit his resignation to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
