PONTIAN, September 20 — The Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate alleged illegal dumping of construction waste in Pontian, Johor.
CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader said reports indicated convoys of trucks had transported construction debris to unauthorised sites since early 2025, with up to 50 trucks arriving on some days.
He questioned how the waste could cross international checkpoints despite regulations governing waste transport and disposal.
CAP also called on Malaysian and Singaporean authorities to identify those responsible, explain possible enforcement failures and prevent similar incidents from recurring.
