KUALA LUMPUR, September 20 — Malaysia must strengthen integrity safeguards and investment due diligence to prevent further losses involving public funds, Pertubuhan Integriti dan Antirasuah Malaysia president Mohamad Fauzi Husin said.

The former MACC deputy commissioner said corruption risks extend beyond politicians to officials, boards, advisers and private-sector parties involved in government decisions.

Citing Tabung Haji’s troubled Al-Rawda investment, Fauzi said major transactions should not proceed before due diligence is completed and adequate financial safeguards are secured.

He stressed that investment losses do not automatically indicate corruption, but decisions involving public money must be transparent, documented and accountable.

Fauzi called for stronger follow-up on audits, conflict-of-interest controls and equal enforcement of integrity standards.
