KUALA LUMPUR, September 20 — Former prime minister Najib Razak remains in Kajang Prison pending payment of the RM50 million fine required under his conditional pardon, his lawyers said.
Shafee & Co said Najib’s transfer to house arrest depends on satisfying the conditions imposed, while his legal team is studying their practical implications.
The firm said a significant portion of Najib’s assets, bank accounts and properties remains subject to government freezing orders and enforcement proceedings, limiting his ability to dispose of them.
Najib is considering options to meet the payment condition and thanked supporters who have offered financial assistance.
