BUKIT MERTAJAM, September 25 — Idrus Ibrahim, the elder brother of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, was laid to rest at the Cheruk Tok Kun Bawah Muslim Cemetery on Friday.
Anwar joined family members, friends, residents and political leaders from various parties for the funeral. Funeral prayers were led by Penang Mufti Mohd Sukki Othman before Idrus was buried at about 2.10pm.
Idrus, a former teacher and headmaster, died in his sleep Thursday at age 83. He leaves behind his wife, four children and 10 grandchildren.
