GEORGE TOWN, September 26 — Penang tourism executive councillor Wong Hon Wai has turned a lifelong interest in running into experience he now brings to the Penang Bridge International Marathon.
Wong returned to running during the pandemic before completing his first half marathon and later his first full marathon at PBIM in 2022.
Since becoming PBIM organising committee chairman in 2023, he has joined races in Malaysia and overseas to study safety, routes and participant experience.
Wong has completed one full and 11 half marathons, saying running has become both a lifestyle and part of his work.
