BALI, September 26 — SAKA Museum at AYANA Bali has opened its first temporary exhibition, exploring the centuries-old Kamasan painting tradition and its evolution among contemporary Balinese artists.
KAMASAN: The Noble Tradition of Balinese Painting brings together more than 30 works, including ritual cloths, palm-leaf works, historical paintings and recent pieces.
Originating from Kamasan village in Klungkung Regency, the style developed under Bali’s royal courts and is closely linked to Hindu traditions.
The exhibition also highlights women and younger artists who are reinterpreting the traditional visual language through themes including identity, ecology and technology. It runs until May 30, 2027.
