SHAH ALAM, September 27 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said efforts to strengthen Malays and the wider Bumiputera community must not come at the expense of other Malaysians’ rights.
Speaking at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Anwar described Bumiputera empowerment and social justice as complementary rather than a “zero-sum game.”
He said he rejected approaches that insult other communities, diminish their contributions or deny their rights, while maintaining support for programmes addressing Bumiputera socio-economic needs.
Anwar also indicated Budget 2027 would strengthen the Bumiputera agenda and called for tighter oversight to ensure funds allocated to Bumiputera institutions are properly managed.
