GEORGE TOWN, September 29 — Creative Weekend Penang 2026 will bring together artists, entrepreneurs, community groups and industry players in Seberang Perai on Oct 3 and 4.
As Penang seeks to grow its creative economy beyond the island. Presented by Joe Sidek Productions under Think City’s Levelling Up Seberang Perai initiative.
The programme at Straits City Concept Centre will feature workshops, industry talks, exhibitions, performances, competitions and a creative marketplace.
Featured speakers include artist Red Hong Yi, model and classical dancer Vanizha Vasanthanathan, “Batik Girl” creator Irwan Junaidy and Terrence Conran of Terry & The Cuz.
Penang tourism executive councillor Wong Hon Wai said the programme aims to give local creatives greater exposure, networks and access to wider markets while connecting creativity with tourism.
Organisers are also developing a three-day, two-night archaeological tourism experience using Seberang Perai as a base to connect Guar Kepah, Bujang Valley and Lenggong Valley.
The package, being explored with Think City and Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City, is targeted for introduction by year-end.
And aims to encourage visitors to explore the wider heritage of northern Malaysia while creating opportunities for local communities and businesses.
