GEORGE TOWN, September 30 — DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng called on the government to exclude foreign workers from any increase in Malaysia’s minimum wage.

Arguing that businesses are already facing higher operating costs. Lim said any upward revision should apply only to Malaysian workers.

And urged the government to consult micro, small and medium enterprises before making changes.   He also called for the mandatory 2% EPF contribution for foreign workers to be abolished.

Saying the measures would ease pressure on about 1.2 million MSMEs. Lim’s proposals come ahead of Budget 2027, scheduled to be tabled on Oct 9.
