GEORGE TOWN, October 1 — Long-term lane closures will begin along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway on Oct 1 to facilitate construction of Penang’s Mutiara Line LRT.

The 24-hour closures will remain in place until Aug 31, 2029, affecting the rightmost lanes between Gat Lebuh Cecil and Gat Lebuh Noordin in both directions.

The Gat Lebuh Cecil junction will also be affected, including its right-turn movement. Other lanes will remain open throughout the construction period.

The closures will facilitate bored piling and related works under the Mutiara Line’s CMC1 package, with traffic management measures deployed at affected locations.
