KUCHING, October 1 — Sarawak’s proposed 17 new state constituencies are unlikely to be ready for the next state election, Election Commission chairman Ramlan Harun said.
He said the electoral boundary review is expected to extend beyond February 2027, when the current state assembly’s term expires. The proposed expansion would increase Sarawak’s state seats from 82 to 99.
The EC has received 18 objections involving issues including polling district centres and proposed constituency names in Sarikei, Bintulu and Sibu
