GEORGE TOWN, October 2 — Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency officers detained a local Class C fishing vessel for suspected licensing and immigration violations in Penang waters.
The vessel was inspected about 17 nautical miles southwest of Pulau Kendi after being detected by KM Semilang on Friday morning. Authorities found five crew members.
Comprising two Thai and three Myanmar nationals, while the vessel allegedly failed to produce required fishing licences and documents. Four foreign crew members also lacked valid temporary work passes.
The vessel and crew were escorted to the Penang Maritime headquarters for investigation. With the total value of the seizure estimated at RM3 million.
