KUALA LUMPUR, October 9 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has personally contacted Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto over worsening transboundary haze affecting Malaysia and the region.
Anwar said Prabowo had agreed to take necessary measures, while relevant ministries continued coordinating with regional counterparts.
The government has increased cloud seeding efforts despite unsatisfactory recent results, amid growing concerns over public health.
The Department of Environment reported unhealthy Air Pollutant Index readings in 38 areas at 3pm Thursday, while regional monitoring detected 94 hotspots in Kalimantan and 210 in Sumatra on Oct 7.
