KUALA LUMPUR, October 9 — The government has proposed extending stamp duty exemptions for first-time homebuyers under Budget 2027, covering properties priced up to RM750,000.
As part of efforts to improve housing affordability. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that first-time buyers purchasing homes priced at RM500,000 or below will receive full stamp duty exemptions.
On loan agreements and property transfer documents. For properties priced above RM500,000 and up to RM750,000, buyers will receive full exemptions on the first RM500,000.
And a 50% exemption on the remaining amount. The proposed incentives will apply to sale and purchase agreements completed between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2030.
While separate full stamp duty exemptions will also support the revival of abandoned housing projects during the same period.
