KUALA LUMPUR, October 10 — The government will allow PTPTN borrowers earning RM2,500 or less monthly to defer their loan repayments in 2027, providing financial relief to lower-income graduates.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that borrowers earning between RM2,500 and RM3,000 monthly will only need to make a minimum repayment of RM50, benefiting more than 400,000 borrowers nationwide.

Meanwhile, borrowers without outstanding arrears who consistently make their repayments will receive a 10% discount as an incentive for maintaining good repayment records.

The government will also introduce tax deductions for employers who repay PTPTN loans on behalf of employees, covering payments made between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2028.
