  • Government to review F1 hosting proposal in November.
  • Study examines hosting costs and economic benefits.
  • Cabinet to decide whether Malaysia should bring back F1.

KUALA LUMPUR, October 16 — Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Ministry will present a cost-benefit assessment on reviving the Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix to the Cabinet in November.

Minister Mohammed Taufiq Johari told Parliament that an inter-ministerial committee is evaluating hosting costs, investment returns and potential benefits to tourism, hospitality and retail.

The review follows renewed interest after Sepang hosted the Bahrain Grand Prix earlier this month, marking Formula 1’s return to Malaysia after nine years.

Malaysia previously hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix from 1999 to 2017 before withdrawing over rising costs and declining financial returns.
