PUTRAJAYA, October 20 — Malaysia’s Registrar of Societies (ROS) has announced the cancellation of Perikatan Nasional’s registration following a review of the coalition’s response to an official notice.

In a statement, ROS said the notice was issued on Sept 22, giving the coalition an opportunity to explain the matters raised.

Perikatan Nasional submitted its response on Oct 12, but the registrar found the explanation insufficient to overturn the grounds for cancellation.

ROS said the decision was made under Section 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act 1966, stressing that registered organisations must comply with legal requirements and their constitutions.
