BAYAN LEPAS, November 4 — A Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was severely damaged after catching fire along the Lim Chong Eu Expressway towards Queensbay on Wednesday afternoon.
The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 1.18pm, with firefighters arriving at 1.33pm amid traffic congestion. The blaze destroyed approximately 90% of the vehicle.
Before being fully extinguished at 2.20pm. Nine firefighters, assisted by Batu Maung volunteer firefighters, responded to the incident. The vehicle’s 39-year-old owner was confirmed safe.
With no injuries reported. Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 1.45pm before completing operations at 3.04pm. The case has been referred to fire investigators to determine the cause.
