GEORGE TOWN, November 8 — The Penang state government has restricted public access to five online systems from 8am to 6pm daily following increased cybersecurity threats and attempted attacks.

The affected platforms are iBita, e2PSM, eMPKK, eKursusTani and ePingat, with access unavailable outside designated hours, including weekends and public holidays.

The State Information and Communication Technology Division said the restrictions aim to prevent unauthorised access, strengthen cybersecurity monitoring and protect government data infrastructure.

Internal government users can continue accessing the systems through office networks, SOVO and VPN connections, while public access remains limited to designated operating hours.
