GEORGE TOWN, September 25 — Penang is seeking more direct flights from China as the state works to expand its tourism market and aviation network.
Tourism and Creative Economy executive councillor Wong Hon Wai recently met Chinese airline representatives in Kuala Lumpur to discuss passenger demand, existing routes and future connectivity.
Wong said Penang is particularly interested in expanding links with northern China, where Qingdao is currently its only directly connected city.
Penang already has direct links with several Chinese cities, while Hainan Airlines is scheduled to launch direct Haikou-Penang services on Oct 11.
