PETALING JAYA, October 2 — Lee Chean Chung resigned as Petaling Jaya MP on Friday after receiving a three-year suspension from PKR.

Lee said he submitted his resignation letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul on Thursday and would leave PKR by Monday. He said he could not justify continuing to receive an MP’s salary.

While being unable to fully participate within his party. Lee attributed his suspension to his outspoken positions on several public issues, though PKR has not publicly confirmed his account.

He said he would continue advocating progressive, multiracial politics and institutional reform, while his Petaling Jaya service centre would remain operational.
