GEORGE TOWN, October 5 — Two hikers were rescued after losing their way in the forest near Youth Park and the Penang Botanic Gardens on Saturday evening.
The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 6.11pm and launched a search using a location shared by the hikers through WhatsApp.
Eight firefighters and three police officers joined the operation. The two men, both aged 25, were found safe at 7.42pm about 2km from the foot of the hill.
Rescuers brought them down safely before handing them over to police. The operation ended at 7.50pm.
