KUALA LUMPUR, October 9 — Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to increase personal income tax relief from RM9,000 to RM12,000 under Budget 2027.

Lim said the existing relief amount has remained unchanged for 17 years despite rising living costs.

He also proposed increasing education and healthcare tax relief by RM1,000 each and removing the 8% service tax on private elderly care homes.
