KUALA LUMPUR, October 9 — The government will double school maintenance and repair funding from RM1 billion to RM2 billion under Budget 2027.

While increasing back-to-school financial assistance from RM150 to RM200 per pupil. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that RM900 million will be allocated to national schools.

RM100 million to Chinese primary schools and RM50 million to Tamil primary schools, alongside RM200 million for registered religious education institutions.

Meanwhile, the increased Bantuan Awal Persekolahan will benefit approximately 5.3 million pupils, supported by an allocation of RM1 billion. Families with four school-going children will receive RM800.

To help cover school preparation expenses for the 2027 academic session. The government also plans to distribute the assistance through schools, encouraging parents to meet teachers and participate in their children’s educational development.
