KUALA LUMPUR, October 9 — Penang International Airport has been included in a RM1.1 billion infrastructure improvement initiative announced under Budget 2027.

Aimed at upgrading roads around airports and ports across Malaysia. Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

Will provide the funding to improve transport infrastructure and connectivity at selected locations. Apart from Penang, the initiative covers airports in Kota Kinabalu, Miri, Tawau and Sandakan.

As well as the Long Banga and Ba’Kelalan short take-off and landing airfields in Sarawak. However, the Budget 2027 speech does not specify the amount allocated to Penang.

The scope of improvement works at Penang International Airport or when the projects will begin.
