PUTRAJAYA, September 6 – YAB Prime Minister, Dato ‘Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had the opportunity to review online the payment process for Covid-19 Special Assistance (BKC) Phase 1 which has been credited to 10 million recipients starting today. In the survey, the Prime Minister had asked the Ministry of Finance to ensure the smooth distribution of BKCs, especially recipients who were in rural areas, far from banking access and did not have bank accounts.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, there are about 708,223 BKC recipients who do not have bank accounts. Therefore, the Prime Minister wants the cash vouchers provided by the Ministry of Finance to reach the hands of the recipients involved without any delay. At the session, the Prime Minister also took the opportunity to interact with BKC recipients at several Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches in Putrajaya, Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan, Pahang, Perlis, and Johor.
The Prime Minister also obtained a report directly from the Minister of Finance, YB Senator Tengku Dato ‘Sri Utama Zafrul Tengku Aziz who went down to the field and personally inspected the payment process at BSN Putrajaya. At the same time, he received feedback on the BKC distribution process from the Deputy Minister of Finance 1, YB Mohd Shahar Abdullah who reviewed the payment process at BSN Triang, Bera, Pahang. The Prime Minister hopes that this assistance will ease the burden of Malaysian families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
