George Town, September 19 – The Penang State Executive Councillor’s Office for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) will assist employees of Hotel Royal Penang to seek employment opportunities via PGCare Alliance, said YB Yeoh Soon Hin. Yeoh, who is also the Vice Chairman of PGCare Alliance, visited Hotel Royal Penang on 18 September 2021 to obtain further information from the management pertaining to the hotel’s closure, following the news that broke a few days ago.
“Other industries have obtained permission to gradually reopen. However, the tourism industry is still bearing the worst brunt in this pandemic and is still awaiting for the green light from the National Security Council to resume operations. This has caused huge economic losses to the tourism industry,” he said in a statement today. Yeoh said that PETACE will compile the list of employees from the hotel and arrange for employment opportunities through PGCare Alliance’s job matching initiative, to facilitate their job transition and to reduce their financial burden.
