KUALA LUMPUR, November 25 – PIKOM, a member of the Asian Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) recently attended the ASOCIO Digital Summit 2022 and ASOCIO Tech Excellence Awards on 28 October 2022 at Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre. Both events were hosted by SGTech was successfully organized with key participation from members economies, regional tech industry leaders, policymakers and other key stakeholders to discuss and debate on issues relating to the global digital economy.
The prestigious ASOCIO Tech Excellence Awards are given to the deserving individuals and organizations that have contributed outstanding technology solutions and services and has made remarkable and successful efforts at providing digital opportunities to the society. This year saw 52 awards in 8 categories presented. Malaysia bagged six awards at the event that included:
- Outstanding Tech Company Category – Century Software (M) Sdn Bhd
- Outstanding User Organization Category – Sunway Group
- Digital Government Category – MyDIGITAL Corporation
- EdTech Category – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
- HealthTech Category – iHEAL Medical Group
- Cybersecurity Category – LGMS Berhad
Other winners included tech companies from Bangladesh, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Myanmar, Vietnam, Singapore and Laos. In conjunction with the Digital Summit and Tech Excellence Awards, ASOCIO also conducted its 64th Board Meeting where PIKOM Councillor Stan Singh was elected Vice Chairman (for 2023-2024 term). David Wong, who has been Chairman of ASOCIO for the past 6 years will be ending his term end of 2022.
At the Tech Excellence Awards, David Wong also received a Special Recognition Award for his 6 years’ service as ASOCIO Chairman. PIKOM Chairman Dr Sean Sean, who led the delegation from Malaysia, said, ““We would like to put on record our highest appreciation to David Wong for helming ASOCIO for the past 6 years, the longest Chairmanship in ASOCIO history. His leadership and contribution have helped nurture ASOCIO to be what it is today, as the region’s largest Federation of Tech Associations.
ASOCIO, a federation of ICT associations representing 24 economies throughout the Asia-Pacific region started in 1984 with the objective of developing the ICT industry across the region by promoting trade and fostering relationships between its member economies. Today, ASOCIO member economies represent a region accounting for USD800 billion in global ICT revenue.
