PUTRAJAYA, May 30 — All Perodua and Toyota models in Malaysia comply with United Nations (UN) safety standards under the current Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) procedures, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today. The confirmation follows a review and retesting of six Perodua models and three Toyota models by the Road Transport Department (JPJ). The retesting, conducted last March by Technical Services (TS) recognized by the World Forum for Harmonisation of Vehicle Regulations (WP29).

Validated the compliance of these models with UN safety regulations, including brake systems and frontal impact. This comes after the Ministry of Transport ordered retesting due to irregularities in vehicle safety testing by Daihatsu Motor Corporation (DMC). The affected models include popular vehicles such as the Perodua Axia, Alza, Aruz, Ativa, Bezza, Myvi, and the Toyota Rush, Vios, and Veloz. Loke assured the public that retesting reports are available on the JPJ website for transparency.
